Okay, so.
I've wanted to start a proper Cooking For People Who Don't blog for ages, and I'm finally getting organized to do it. I'm looking seriously at ways to make money off of it, as well. Probably Patreon, but there are various options.
One option I'm NOT looking at is ads, so at least in the beginning, I'd like it to live on DW, for a bunch of reasons, and, well, this comm has the name. Since it's also moribund, I'm going to reclaim it, but you have all contributed a lot of awesome stuff here, which I don't want to see lost.
The obvious option seems to me to be to close membership (ETA: I have in fact done this), member-lock all the existing posts, and move on from there with a clean slate. This would allow you all to retrieve and repost your content elsewhere at any time, but would leave only stuff I write myself visible to most people.
I'm open to other options, including renaming the comm so I can reuse the name. As I don't think that I can change a community back to a journal, that or deleting the comm is in many ways my preferred approach but it'll cost me a rename token not to delete and while I'm happy to pay that if someone else wants to become mod here and try to run it as a cooking comm, I'd need some evidence that somebody was, in fact, willing to do that.
Nothing major is going to happen for at least two weeks, probably a bit longer, so we've all got time to think a bit.
